Happy Waffle Monkey customers in Grand Cayman
A family adventure to Central America back in 2016 was capped off at the cool surfing town of Tamarindo on Costa Rica's northern Pacific Coast ... and this is where WAFFLE MONKEY was born. It's no coincidence there's a "Monkey" in our name, with an abundance of these clever furry friends swinging through the trees of Costa Rica!

The enthusiasm for our brand has propelled us to 5 cafes - one in Grand Cayman, two in Costa Rica, and two stores in sunny Florida, USA. As the adventure continues, we're having fun serving waffles, coffees & shakes to our wonderful customers at our ambient upbeat cafes. Let's play on ...

“Great little waffle place. Not a ton of seating inside during busy hours. Solid waffles. Some versions might come out crispier than others that do not have a filling. Fried chicken is good. Thin cutlets with good flavor. Makes it easy to eat with a waffle. Try the siracha maple if you want some extra sweet kick.”

But what truly put Waffle Monkey over the top was our server, Piper. She was informative, efficient, attentive, genuine, and naturally funny. Even more impressive, I watched her interact with other guests with exactly the same warmth and energy she gave us. I’ve seen other reviews praising the service here, and after our experience, I wouldn’t be surprised if Piper was their server too.”

“We got 2 very different waffles at this location. We got the fruit of the day that was a waffle with blueberries in it and bananas and powdered sugar on top. The other waffle was the ham and cheese. It had a garlic butter on top that really added to the flavor of the waffle. Both waffles were served with a side of syrup and the flavor of the day had a side of whipped cream with it. They had seating in front of the restaurant and seating that was on the beach. We chose to sit at the tables on the beach and were greeted by a very friendly lizard. Both seating areas were cute and had clean tables. We ultimately chose to sit at the beach portion due to the additional shade and breeze coming in. Both waffles were prepared quickly and came out hot. We loved this place and will definitely be going back next time we are at Tamarindo Beach”

Besides waffles, what else do you offer?

In addition to our wide selection of sweet and savory waffles, we have a range of breakfast & brunch options including many egg dishes, sandwiches, avocado toast, granola bowls and more. We also offer a range of coffee, teas, shakes, smoothies, frappes and our famous fresh OJ! Check out our menu for more details.

Can I order online or get takeout?

You sure can! Many of our cafes offer online ordering for pickup — just look for the Order Now button on our menu or your nearest cafe's page. Prefer to grab it on the spot? Takeout is always available at the counter too.

Where do you source your coffee from?

True to our roots, we source all our coffee from Cafe Britt in Costa Rica. They focus on sustainable farming, working directly with local farmers. Their shade-grown cultivation helps preserve biodiversity and natural ecosystems. Roasting in Costa Rica means our coffee's really fresh too. Give it a spin!

Do you offer Gluten Free and vegan options?

We offer a gluten-free and vegan waffle and a selection of toppings that are gluten free and vegan too. Some stores have a dedicated gluten-free prep station and waffle iron too. Please check with your server and be sure to specify your dietary requirements when ordering!

Are you dog friendly?

We most certainly are - woof! Dogs are welcome in our outdoor and patio seating at all our cafes — we just ask that they stay leashed and relaxed while you tuck into your waffles.

Are you family and kid friendly?

Absolutely. Kids absolutely love Waffle Monkey and our menu sort of reads like a kids menu too - sweet waffles, smoothies and shakes! High chairs are available at most cafes — just ask your server.

Do you serve alcohol?

Waffle Monkey is very much a family friendly brand and a bar we are not! That said, its sometimes nice to indulge in a mimosa or beer every now and then, and we have a small selection of beers and wines on offer at our Florida and Costa Rica stores. In keeping with our licenses, alcohol must be ordered alongside food, not by itself.

Do I need a reservation?

Generally no — just come on in and grab a seat! We don't take reservations for regular tables. If you're bringing a larger group, give your local cafe a call ahead and we'll do our best to make space for you.

Can I open my own Waffle Monkey cafe?

We now have two cafes open in Florida and we're beginning to grow Waffle Monkey in the US — slowly and carefully, with hands-on owner-operators who love the brand. If that sounds like you, contact us for an initial chat.
